What is a TREM group?

TREM stands for "Trauma Recovery and Empowerment."

The goal of this group is to help women become stronger and move forward in life.  The group does this by helping women develop skills to deal with current life problems, which might be related to past trauma. Some topics the group will talk about in the first few sessions are self-esteem, how to soothe yourself when you are upset, and how to set limits with people.

This group is offered at ACBC for those who have completed an evaluation and are recommended to participate.  Individuals who receive services at ACBC have a diagnosis of a substance abuse or dependency, or have addiction in the family.

This group is led by other women and follows a psycho-educational format for 24 sessions.  The group leaders have had specialized training in order to provide this service. TREM is an evidence-based practice and is on the National Registry of Evidence-Based Practices.
